The company reported a net loss of $2.6 billion for the second quarter, of which $1.7 billion was attributable to investments and revaluation of stakes in Aurora, Grab and Zomato....

The human rights group’s researchers found that Ukrainian forces were using some schools and hospitals as bases, shooting near homes and sometimes living in apartments. The report concluded that this meant that in some cases Russian forces would respond to an attack or target populated areas – putting civilians at risk and destroying civilian infrastructure. He also criticized the Ukrainian military for not evacuating civilians who could be caught in the crossfire....

In a late-night televised address, Zelensky also said the hundreds of thousands of people still in combat zones in the wider Donbas region, which includes Donetsk as well as the neighboring Luhansk region, needed to leave. The spread of resistance has eroded the Kremlin’s control over these areas and threatened its plans to hold referendums in several cities as a move toward annexation by Russia. “Our goal is to make life unbearable for the Russian occupiers and use any means to derail their plans,” said Andriy, a 32-year-old coordinator of the rebel movement in the southern Kherson region. Vernon RCMP and the BC Coroners Service are investigating the death of a man who was found to be in medical trouble at Kal Beach late Sunday. Shortly after 10:30 p.m., police were called to Coldstream Beach after a witness reported seeing a man possibly needing help in the water. Police pulled the unresponsive man to shore and called for help. Additional officers arrived at the scene and police continued CPR on the victim until medical help arrived....

The historic USS The Sullivans took water and partially sank in Buffalo & Erie County Naval & Military Park, according to the U.S. Coast Guard Buffalo Sector. Officials said the 78-year-old ship suffered a rupture near the middle of the ship as its right side sank in Lake Erie on Thursday. The U.S. Coast Guard said more than 3 million gallons of water flooded the historic ship. “This ship will be up again,” said Naval and Military Park President Paul Marzello, according to Buffalo News....

A Utah man is facing charges after he allegedly stole a backhoe from a construction site, drove it 1.5 kilometers to a nearby grocery store and dug up the parking lot. Salt Lake City police said officers began receiving calls around noon Saturday about a man “accidentally” digging up a strip of grass and sidewalk outside a Smith’s grocery store, officers said in a news release. “Here’s something you don’t see every day, someone stole a backhoe and drove it almost a mile to 800 South 900 West where it started tearing up the ground,” the police department tweeted....

The Metropolitan Police were called to multiple reports of a man with a gun in Creek Road, Greenwich, south-east London shortly after 2.30pm on Friday evening.
