The incident took place around 2:28 p.m., and police arrived at the scene and began going to the store to store the people being evacuated, police said. The death toll from the shootings ranged from 15 to 75, Colombia Police Chief William Holbrooke told reporters at a news conference later that night. As of Saturday night, two of the victims were in critical but stable condition, Holbrooke said. “The important thing is that we have no casualties,” he told reporters. Two other people were injured during the riot, Holbrooke said. The leader said three people he described as “people of interest” had been arrested. The unknown individuals were seen armed and at least one of them allegedly fired, according to Holbrooke. “We do not think this was a coincidence,” he said. “We believe the gunmen knew each other.” Shopkeepers closed and sheltered people as police swept through the mall, Holbrooke said. They reunite with their friends and family members.
