Durham police were called to a house on Normandy Street and Dean Avenue shortly before noon Wednesday to report a gunman.
When police arrived at the home, police said they had located a victim who had suffered a gunshot wound.
She was airlifted to a trauma center in Toronto with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.  Her condition is stable, police said.
Police claim that the suspect fled the scene and was located and arrested a short distance from the house.
The suspect, who is not named under the Juvenile Justice Act, is charged with attempted murder, aggravated assault, assault with a firearm, shooting with a firearm with intent to injure, possession of a prohibited / restricted weapon without a license and a number of other offenses. in connection with the alleged shooting.
The suspect was detained for bail, according to police.
No other details of the shooting have been released by investigators.
