On February 27, the EPS Gang Repression Team took a “precautionary walk” at a restaurant on 99th Street and Jasper Avenue, where it stumbled upon a group known to police and asked them to leave.
Police found a loaded pistol in a bag they had left behind, which belonged to a member of the group – 27-year-old Tysean Wawryk.
Wawryk fled on foot when police shouted at him outside the restaurant, EPS said, but he was arrested as he tried to go to a hotel a short time later.
