The man, identified only by his surname Zhang, was arrested for brutally killing his girlfriend, surnamed Wang, by running over her body several times with his vehicle on Tuesday in Tangshan, Hebei province. After the incident, Wang was rushed to a local hospital but was pronounced dead a short time later. Local authorities arrested Zhang around 3 p.m., a few hours after he left the scene across from a public swimming pool. Onlookers can be seen trying to intervene and get Wang to safety, but are unsuccessful. Zhang then swerves his vehicle towards bystanders and proceeds to repeatedly hit his girlfriend while she is on the ground. An employee at the local swimming pool told news outlets that Wang worked at the pool. The worker claimed that Wang appeared to be working as usual before the incident. The case remains under further investigation, according to police.
