A woman, who has not yet been named, was pronounced dead at the scene after the crash on the A171 in North Yorkshire. The crash happened just outside the village of Cloughton near Scarborough at around 2pm on Saturday. A silver Honda Jazz was traveling from the direction of Whitby when it was involved in a collision with a black Mazda caravan near the turn off to Hayburn Wyke. In a statement, North Yorkshire Police said: “The female driver of the Honda Jazz was sadly pronounced dead at the scene and the female driver of the caravan was taken to hospital by ambulance with serious injuries. “Police are appealing for anyone who saw a vehicle in the area prior to the collision or who may have footage of the dashboard or any other information that could assist the investigation.” Anyone who may have information is asked to contact [email protected] or call North Yorkshire Police on 101 quoting reference number 12220133717. As of 6 p.m., police said the road is currently closed and is expected to remain closed for some time, so drivers should avoid the area.
