In iOS 16 beta 5, the battery percentage indicator in the Status Bar is back. The tech giant rolled out the functionality alongside the launch of the iPhone X in 2017. While it was possible to view battery life in iPhone settings, it’s much more convenient to look at your device and see a specific number in the status bar . According to 9to5Mac, reading the percentage in the latest iOS 16 beta is as simple as navigating to Settings, selecting Battery, then enabling a new Battery Percentage option. There’s a chance the feature will be enabled by default when the public version of iOS 16 is released this September. When I downloaded iOS 16 beta 5 on my iPhone 13 Pro, the option to add battery percentage (shown in the photo above) appeared in the Battery section of the Settings app. The percentage is visible while charging, in low power mode, and during general use if the feature is enabled. Interestingly, 9to5Mac says that the option to add battery percentage on iPhone XR, iPhone 11, iPhone 12 mini, and iPhone 13 mini is not available in iOS 16 beta 5. Given how confusing it was for Apple to abandon the battery percentage option in the first place, it’s great to finally see it return. That said, it’s hard to celebrate functionality that shouldn’t have gotten rid of it in the first place. However, it looks like the battery percentage indicator is back, and it looks like Apple has finally listened to the criticism about its removal. Via: 9to5Mac
