Express Sport looks at who could be next to win regular first-team football under Arteta. Reuel Walters One of the most promising full-backs in Arsenal’s academy, Reuell Walters was one of a handful of academy players called up to the first team squad for their pre-season tour of the USA. The 17-year-old impressed in a 20-minute game against Everton. Arsenal also have an impressive young right-back in Brook Norton-Coffey, but he looks likely to go out on loan after a successful temporary spell with Lincoln City last season. That would leave Walters as the U23’s first choice on the right side of defence. Walters will need to bide his time for opportunities under Arteta as the Spaniard has some senior players who can play in the position. But the coach is clearly a big fan of the academy star. JUST IN: Man City have given new transfer hope to Marc Cucurella as star left out Marquinhos A £2million fee has been agreed with Sao Paulo to bring Marquinhos to the Emirates Stadium this summer. His signing was likely a key reason why prized winger Omari Hutchinson left for Chelsea, but Arsenal will be hoping the Brazilian can go on to better things than the now Blues ace. Arsenal’s plan for the 19-year-old is to play a leading role in the U21s and gradually integrate into Arteta’s squad. He may struggle to displace Bukayo Saka, Emile Smith Rowe and compatriot Gabriel Martinelli. But there are high hopes for Marquinhos and he could be a successful long-term investment.
