Biden, 79, had just finished his nearly 40-minute speech at the North Carolina Agricultural and Technical University in Greensboro when he turned to the right with his leg outstretched in a handshake. There was no one else on stage and none of the applauding crowd approached the president to exchange pleasure, according to footage of the event. The Democrat squeezed some flesh at the beginning of his speech, shaking hands with Malcolm Hawkins, the electrical engineering student who introduced him. His remarks were aimed at pressuring Congress to increase funding for semiconductor production as proposed in the Bipartisan Innovation Act. Some political opponents reacted to the unfortunate exit, including Republican Sen. Ted Cruz, who posted on Twitter an emoji with a roll in the eye along with shots of the aerial handshake. President Joe Biden turned after his speech with his hand outstretched, but no one was there. @ Freebeacon / Twitter
