Photo: Big White Big White Ski Resort is trying a new way to bring more people to the mountain. The resort will host a partnership event for the first time at the end of August which will hopefully attract the working crowd. The Big White and Boundary Country Regional Chambers of Commerce are teaming up for the event that could lead to the opening of the co-working center at Canada’s highest elevation. “We think it’s a great opportunity for those who work in Kelowna and have a mountain condo to start the weekend a day early. Go up the mountain and work out of our job site on Friday, then come into the weekend and ride the lifts on your bike,” says Andrew Zwicker, agribusiness consultant at the Boundary Country Regional Chamber of Commerce. Globe Cafe & Tapas Bar’s bar and dining room will be transformed into a scene that could be set in Manhattan or Silicon Valley, only miles up, with wifi, coffee and amazing views. The first event will take place on Friday 26 August from 9am to 5pm at Globe Cafe & Tapas Bar. For a $10 fee, people will have access to a comfortable workspace for up to 30 people, Wi-Fi and printers, as well as free coffee and a pre-work/social drink from 4-5pm. The team is working on funding to proceed with a full feasibility study and business plan for the potential permanent site. “We have some very exciting irons in the fire with some big name partners that I can’t name yet who want to come on board and help make this dream come true. It has been a great team effort so far and continues to attract new talent. I am confident we will do something great with this team,” says Zwicker.
