Ross Tighe witnessed the alleged shooting of his mother and stepfather, Maree and Mervyn Schwarz, and his older brother Graham, at their $10 million property in Bogie, inland from Queensland’s Whitsunday region. Police will allege the young father hid in bushes and ran for his life as gunshots rang out on the extremely remote 29,000-acre bushland. Ross Tighe (pictured) underwent life-saving emergency surgery at Mackay Base Hospital after running for his life and sources close to him say he is responsive and walking Graham Tighe (pictured) was killed along with his mother and stepfather, Maree and Mervyn Schwarz Neighbor Darryl Young has been charged with three counts of murder and one count of attempted murder. Police suspect the alleged incident sparked a property boundary dispute. Mr Tighe reportedly fled for his life and was able to drive 40km through unyielding terrain along a rutted dirt road to his nearest neighbour’s property to call for help – all while trying to remain conscious him with a shot in the abdomen. He underwent emergency surgery on Thursday night at Mackay Base Hospital and spent two days in intensive care. His uncle, Isaac District Councilor Greg Austen, revealed on Saturday that Mr Tighe is now “up and walking”. But Mr Austen noted the young dad still has a long way to go to recover from the alleged horror of the past 72 hours. Bogie man and alleged triple killer Darryl Young remanded in custody after Mr Tighe’s family members die A wreath of flowers (pictured) was at the entrance to the driveway leading to the property where the alleged murders took place It’s a remarkable recovery for a man who was found in the middle of nowhere with life-threatening injuries Thursday morning. Police said Mr Tighe was in a “very distressed state” when he initially spoke to officers, leading to confusion as police tried to narrow down the area where the alleged shooting took place. It seems he sought out neighbors at Flagstone Cattle Farm 40km away. A man at the property said he would not comment on the incident, adding that his family was “very close” to those involved. Young, a neighbor of Mr Tighe’s, was taken into custody and charged with three counts of murder and one count of attempted murder The $10 million Schwarz estate has gone under the hammer five times in the past 17 years. It is understood that the previous owners also had their heads crossed with Young, but Mr Schwarz was unfazed by the disagreements. The extended family made the trip from across Queensland to be at Mr Tighe’s bedside. It is understood his late brother Graham’s wife and children were flown by Angel Flight Australia to be there when he woke up. “They were a bit flooded,” Mr Austen said, adding that his family were hoping for time and space to cope with the huge loss. Alleged gunman Young is understood to have been living at a property in Bowen (pictured) at the time of the alleged fatal fence row Daily Mail Australia also understands the alleged gunman Young did not even live on the 7,700ha property at the center of the dispute. His main place of residence was actually just outside of Bowen – about 2.5 hours from the land in Bogie. The house – which sits on a much more manageable 65 hectares – is set at the back of a quiet dirt drive and is protected by a fence with a warning sign that reads ‘Entry by invitation only’. “No trespassing on all men, women, persons and entities including the police, government, sheriff, bailiff, council, private investigators, corporations.” The sign warns that “trespass damages” of at least $10,000 will apply “with one step on this land.” Young’s Bowen property is a secret property with a large and extensive warning sign posted on its barbed wire that reads: “No Trespassing” A close neighbor told Daily Mail Australia Young often kept to himself and appeared to be a “quiet friend”. “He doesn’t have many visitors at all,” the neighbor said, making light of the extensive list of people banned according to his legal notice. The person, who did not want to be named, said Young was spending less and less time at his main residence in favor of his Bogie property. “He’s been out there fixing it up a lot lately,” the neighbor said. “Everybody knows everybody out here, but we like to keep to ourselves. I knew him as a pretty quiet, lonely guy.” Over the years, Young’s home had acquired more and more trash, to the point where it now “looks like trash” from the street, according to neighbors. Young was understood to spend a lot of time at his Bowen property, which is dotted with rusty shades – old cars and machinery are strewn around the property (pictured) Rusty old cars, farm machinery and random bits and pieces dot the front of the property and line the road to the tin shed at the back. His house is tucked away in a corner, further from the main road. Mackay Detective Inspector Tom Armitt revealed Young was taken into custody along with four other people several hours after they were first alerted to the alleged shooting. “It took a while to make contact with him,” Det Insp Armitt said. Meanwhile, the townspeople mourn the loss of the Schwarz family and their son Graham. A shop owner in Collinsville told Daily Mail Australia they were a friendly family who always did everything for the community. “They were genuine people and they will be missed. What a tragedy,” he said.
