Scary shots show the moment desperate passengers tighten on a door of the plane that had opened. The short clip is enough to make even the most confident of frequent travelers feel nauseous. The video, from Brazil, shows two men holding the door as their passengers look nervously out the window. The men were stuck for 20 minutes until the plane landed safely. Reports later said a broken support cable was responsible for the shocking accident. The aircraft type, an Embraer 110 Bandeirante, can usually fly from 15 to 21 passengers. In this case, it had taken off at 12.30 with 12 passengers on Tuesday. It had flown from the municipality of Jordao to Rio Branco, in northern Brazil. Some passengers reported hearing “strange” noises shortly after takeoff. The disturbing video was widely shared on social media on Tuesday afternoon. Panic soon ensued when the left door suddenly opened and air was blowing on the plane. The door handrail was then suspended on the propeller of the left engine of the aircraft. Two men managed to hold the door and keep it closed as the others watched. Meanwhile, the pilot of the plane turned off the engine precautionarily. He then managed to steer the plane to a safe landing. No injuries were reported on the ship.

A passenger, who did not want to be named, told Gessta: “I think they were holding the door for 20 minutes. “The company did not explain what happened, if it was something serious, if the plane could crash, if it was an acceptable failure.” A spokesman for Rio Branco Aerotaxi later told reporters that the incident had been referred to the country’s Center for Aeronautical Accident Investigation and Prevention.
