Brazilian police have accused a German diplomat of beating his husband to death and trying to cover up the incident as an accident. Police arrested Uwe Herbert Hahn, consul at the German consulate in Rio de Janeiro, on Saturday. Hahn initially ruled his husband’s death an accident, telling authorities that Walter Henri Maximilien Biot fell and fatally hit his head in Rio de Janeiro, according to the Straits Times. “The consul’s version of events, that the victim suffered a fall, is inconsistent with the conclusions of the forensic report,” police said. “He found various bruises, including on the torso, consistent with injuries caused by trampling, as well as injuries consistent with an attack with a cylindrical instrument,” he added. “The corpse screams about the circumstances of its death.” POLICE ARRESTS 2ND SUSPECT IN CONNECTION WITH MEN KILLED IN BRAZILIAN AMAZON Shallow depth of field image of yellow law enforcement line with police car and lights in background.
