In the hours since the 21-year-old was found on Good Friday, some of the many who knew him visited the Greyfriars Bridge in Shrewsbury to leave their own tributes and samples of love. Many of them had helped search for Nathan in the weeks before he was under the bridge. He had been declared missing after a night out in the city, after being last seen in the early hours of March 27. Dozens of floral tributes and photographs are attached to the Greyfriars footbridge connecting downtown Shrewsbury and Coleham. A Shrewsbury Town FC scarf and jersey are also left, showing Nathan’s love for the team. Jamie Haley and his friends pay tribute to the Greyfriars Bridge The well-wishers have left messages on the shirt. A group of friends of the 21-year-old from Sundorne School, now Shrewsbury Academy, pinned photos of them at the school dance. They had participated in the search for their friend after his disappearance and as they left their tributes, they exchanged memories of someone who loved his haircut and was a good football player but an awesome dancer. Everyone agreed that he was the most selfless person they knew. Alfie Page said: “The crowd looking for Nathan showed exactly what type he was. He really had a golden heart.” Jamie Haley said: “We have never heard him disagree or say anything bad about anyone. “He was really one of the best.” Greyfriars Bridge Friends, many of whom played football with Nathan on an under-18 team, are now looking to do something in his memory – possibly a football match. Shrewsbury Town’s Matthew Pennington took to Twitter to pay his respects, saying: “It’s catastrophic for me to hear such tragic news. My thoughts are with his family and friends. Rest in peace, Nathan.” It is devastating to hear such tragic news. My thoughts are with his family and friends.
