Six other people were injured in the horrific accident. Officials say the man was fatally injured when a 70-foot yacht plowed into rocks just offshore. It is understood that he may be the owner of the boat, reports La Stampa. Doctors rushed to the coastline to help the other injured, two of whom are in serious condition. The accident happened at around 8.40pm while the team was sailing in front of the Lee Nibani Islands. It is understood the yacht may have swerved suddenly to avoid colliding with another vessel. The boat partially sank after hitting the rocks. It was recovered and towed to Porto Cervo. Authorities have seized it for further investigation. The crash site is being guarded tonight by the Coast Guard.
