Martinez has long been an ambassador for the Blue Jays, returning to the days of the game. Martinez spent the last six seasons of his 17-year career in Toronto. He will continue to lead the club from 2000-01. He has been a member of the Toronto organization for four decades. But the 73-year-old has been closely aligned with the Blue Jays since his job at the kiosk. While he has some experience as a national broadcaster, he is now in the 12th year of Sportsnet announcing the Blue Jays games, notes Keegan Matheson of MLB.com. The Blue Jays games will definitely not be the same without Buck’s well-known commentary over the next two months. We here at MLBTR wish Martinez a speedy recovery as, in his words, he gives the good fight.
