In the video, 28-year-old Aiden Aslin, from Newark in Nottinghamshire, walked through the rubble of a steel plant in the southern city, where he fought Russian forces for 48 days. “If you are watching this video, it means we have surrendered,” he said. “At last we have exhausted all our resources. We have run out of ammunition, food. All we had left was water, but other than that we were under constant heavy bombardment, heavy artillery, heavy air strikes.” Russia’s main news program on Thursday showed Mr Aslin being interrogated by members of the Russian security services following his surrender to the 36th Ukrainian Marine Corps. In it, the 28-year-old was accused of being a sniper, but denied that he fought, saying that he had stayed in a shelter throughout the fight because he was afraid.
