The Coast Guard deployed two patrol cars and a plane to look for the unknown 43-year-old, whose jump allegedly shook holidaymakers who were running and screaming on the deck of the ship. The man sank shortly after midnight, about 55 miles east of Port Canaveral, according to the army and Carnival officials. A passenger on the massive ship reported that people were scrambling on the deck of the cruise ship early Saturday morning as officers from Mardi Gras and the nearby cruise ship Elation began searching for the man at sea, according to TMZ. The Mardi Gras had departed from Grand Turk and was to complete the scheduled voyage to the seaport as investigations continued, officials said. “The Carnival Care Team supports the guest’s family,” said Carnival spokesman Matt Lupoli. “Our thoughts and prayers are with the visitor and his family.” The incident was the third of its kind to happen to the cruise company in the last three months. Last month, the body of a man who had jumped from Carnival Horizon was retrieved in the Caribbean. In February, a woman jumped to her death from Carnival Valor in the Gulf of Mexico to escape safety after an altercation at a hot tub. With Post cables
