Of those currently being treated, 740 are fully vaccinated, 164 are unvaccinated and 34 are partially vaccinated. The vaccination status of the other patients is unknown. Forty-eight percent of patients currently receiving treatment at an Ontario hospital were admitted for COVID-19, while 52 percent were positive after the event. At the ICU, there are 185 patients receiving care – up from 177 on Thursday. Of these patients, 65 are fully vaccinated, 27 are unvaccinated and three are partially vaccinated. No other vaccination information was given. Sixty-two percent of these patients are being treated for COVID-19, and 38 percent have been admitted for a different reason, but have since tested positive. Laboratories across Ontario ran 20,538 tests on Thursday and 19,282 tests on Friday, which the government said resulted in 18.8 percent and 18.5 percent positive rates, respectively. At least 8,533 positive COVID-19 cases were detected through these tests, although this number is underestimated for limited access to PCR testing in the province. At the same time, the province reports another 23 deaths due to COVID-19 in the last 48 hours. Twenty of these deaths occurred in the last month and three additional deaths were added to the county’s 12,629 deaths based on what the Ministry of Health calls “data cleansing”. Ontario has seen 1,217,574 laboratory-confirmed COVID-19 cases since the beginning of the pandemic. This number also includes 1,168,929 people who have recovered.
