The recently released Super Pets movie stars Johnson as the voice of Krypto the Superdog – a shocking piece of casting that’s absolutely perfect when you hear it. But the scene in the movie after the concerts is a nod to one of Johnson’s other characters… and it was his idea all along. “THANK YOU for making SUPER PATS the #1 MOVIE,” he said via Instagram. “But you stayed until the VERY END credits?” The movie’s post-creations scene opens with Superman and Krypto playing fetch in the park (with Squeezy Bruce, of course). But the happy moment is interrupted when another dog gets his hands on Krypto’s famous toy – a dog named ‘Anubis’. And it turns out he’s the pet of another DC anti-hero, Black Adam. “You already know how I feel about SUPERMAN vs BLACK ADAM,” he added. “The indestructible force meets the immovable object. With DC SUPER PETS UNIVERSE we had the opportunity to create this wonderful animated universe in a big, fun, cool way.” Of course, this cute stinger was a reference to Dwayne Johnson’s other DC role as Shazam! Nemesis, Black Adam. And with Johnson voicing Krypto, Anubis, and Black Adam for this scene, it all gets a little meta. Not to mention the fact that Johnson has been open about wanting to take on Superman. But while that post-credits scene was all Johnson, we shouldn’t take it too seriously. After all, it was fueled by one or three glasses of tequila. Black Adam SDCC Teaser Trailer “So three [tequilas] later, I came up with an idea for the end credits,” he said. “Let me introduce you to the baddest, baddest, anti-hero dog to walk God’s green earth…. ANUBIS. Complete with his new favorite toy – tight Bruce Batman.” Whether Black Adam will actually take on Superman within the DCEU remains to be seen. But at least their dogs had a chance to go wild. Want to learn more about the DC League of Super Pets? Check out how it fared at the box office, plus our full review of the animated superhero film.
