— Source: CFSEU-BC Winnpenny said agencies across the Lower Mainland are aware of “several conflicts involving numerous criminal groups that have resulted in murders and attempted murders in recent months in public places. “Police expect the violence to continue in the coming weeks and months as these individuals continue to engage in illegal activities that are dangerous to themselves and the public.” The public is asked to avoid interacting with them “as police believe these individuals may be the target of future violence.” The head of the anti-gang unit Asst. Commissioner Manny Mann said the men’s activities were not limited to any particular jurisdiction and could “travel across the province committing gang-related acts of violence and may be targeted by others who are also involved in the conflict”.

“The Vancouver Police Department is committed to working with our partner agencies at the regional, provincial and national levels to combat gang violence as we know it is not bound by geographic borders,” said Deputy Chief Const. Fiona Wilson, VPD head of investigation. “I want to reassure the public that the police have committed significant investigative and operational resources to tackling gang violence.” “Important work is underway to prevent, reverse and suppress gang-related violence in our province,” says Asst. Commissioner Will Ng of the BC RCMP. “The very public and brazen gang-related violence in our communities is unacceptable and will not be tolerated. We know that gang members do not respect borders, so our efforts have included a coordinated approach with various agencies and enforcement measures to continue to target those who pose the greatest risk to public safety.” Anyone with information about the recent violence or aware of suspicious activity is asked to call 911.
