Greater Manchester Police said the teenager was in a stable condition following the incident, which happened on Quinney Crescent in the Moss Side area of the city at around 10.30pm on Friday. The force believes a single shot was fired from a passing vehicle into a crowd outside the address where the party was taking place. Officers said they did not believe the girl was the target of the attack. Her injuries are not serious and officers are with her as she continues to recover in hospital. The force said in a statement: “Enquiries are ongoing to establish the cause of the incident and ultimately those responsible. “An extensive cordon is in place as we continue to investigate the scene and we thank the local community for their co-operation while this is happening.” Chief Inspector Robert Cousen, commander of the Manchester city division, said: “My thoughts are with the victim, whose physical injuries are thankfully not serious. He is able to speak to our officers at the hospital, but that doesn’t take away from what could happen here, as incidents like this are always reckless, serious and life-threatening. “We are doing everything we can to clarify the circumstances of this incident and ensure that whoever is responsible is caught and brought to justice.”
