Investigators say a warrant was issued Wednesday at a home in Brampton where Riyasat Singh, 23, of Mississauga, was taken into custody by police. York District Police have since issued an arrest warrant across Canada for the arrest of 23-year-old Harshdeep Binner from Brampton. Both men face charges of attempted murder, attempted kidnapping, possession of property obtained with a crime of more than $ 5,000 and malice of less than $ 5,000. York Regional Police say Haitamiri was hit in the head with a pan on Dec. 20 in an underground garage at King William Crescent. Police say the attack was stopped by an interested citizen before the two men took off in a vehicle. The attack left 37-year-old Hajtamiri with a head injury that required about 40 stitches. Police confirmed that they had confiscated a tracking device, which her family said was found in her car after the attack. Investigators later learned that the suspect’s vehicle had been stolen from the Finch Avenue and Don Mills area of Toronto. It has since been recovered. Weeks later, on Jan. 12, police said three men posing as police officers violently dragged Hajtamiri barefoot into the snow from a house in Trailwood Place on Wasaga Beach where she had been hiding with family members. The whereabouts of Haitamiri remain a mystery as the abduction continues. York District Police say they are working closely with Ontario County Police and are urging anyone with information on the case to contact the Advice Line at 1-866-876-5423 ext. 7250 or Crime Stoppers to remain anonymous.
