Clashes erupted after a group of supporters gathered on Saturday. Three police officers had to be taken to hospital after a riot broke out in the eastern Swedish town of Linkoping on Thursday. Two people were arrested during the demonstration. On Friday, nine police officers were injured in similar clashes in Orebro in central Sweden. Following the series of incidents, the Iraqi Foreign Ministry said it had summoned the Swede to Baghdad on Sunday. He warned that the case could have “serious repercussions” on “relations between Sweden and Muslims in general, as well as Muslim and Arab countries and Muslim communities in Europe.” Prime Minister Magdalena Andersson condemned the violence. Paludan plans to hold further rallies in two other Swedish cities, but the protests have not received the green light from the police.
