BC Wildfire Service executive director Ian Meier issued a statement late Tuesday about the landing at the Southeast Fire Station. Meyer said the contracted Conair 802 Air Tractor Fireboss Skimmer experienced engine failure while working on the Connell Ridge Fire, near Cranbrook. He said the emergency landing was successful and the pilot was taken to hospital for medical evaluation. The statement said the BC Wildfire Service is providing all possible assistance to the pilot and Conair and more information will be released when it becomes available. The Connell Ridge Fire currently covers approximately 150 hectares.
