3. Russian forces occupy the city of Donbas

Russian troops have seized the town of Kremlin in eastern Ukraine as Moscow intensifies its offensive to seize control of the Donbas region. “There was a major attack overnight,” Luhansk regional governor Sergi Gaidei said in a statement on social media. “The Russian army has already entered there, with a huge amount of military equipment … Our defenders have retreated to new positions,” he added. Kremina, with a population of nearly 20,000 before the war, is located about 31 miles northeast of Kramatorsk, the region’s administrative center, and is a strategic target for Russian invading forces.

4. Three dead in bombings in Kharkov

Three people were killed in bombings in the Ukrainian city of Kharkiv on Monday, the local prosecutor’s office said in a statement. It comes a day after the bombing that killed six people in Ukraine’s second largest city. Officials said a shell fell on a playground, killing a man and a woman.
