History was made at Royal St. John’s Regatta this morning as for the first time women’s teams rowed the long course. The race itself took place shortly before 11am with Verso taking the win with a time of 10:28. The other teams in the race were RBC Dominion Securities, Eastern Valve and Control and BlueKey Reality Inc. Meanwhile, Hyflodraulic and NTV are on pace to defend their Royal St.John’s Regatta championship. Not only that, but Hyflodraulic has a shot at the Triple Crown of Rowing after winning Placentia and Harbor Grace. They crossed the finish line in 5:08 this morning, 5 seconds better than their time. Coxswain Robert Roch says the lake conditions have been good and they hope to knock another 8 seconds or so on the championship tonight at 6:30. The record is 4:56.10. NTV won the men’s amateur in 9:32, about 7 seconds better than the Time Trials in July. Full race results can be found here. We fill up nicely for the afternoon. @VOCMNEWS pic.twitter.com/6uFNxhMFdK — Brian Callahan (@briancallahan67) August 4, 2022
