And, earlier this week, the much-needed victory for Truth Social and its parent company, Trump Media and Technology Group (TMTG), seemed to have arrived: Fox News officially joined the platform. According to Fox News, the verified @FoxNews account on Trump’s social network does not belong to the company. A Fox News spokesman did not comment beyond confirmation on Mashable that the network is not on Truth Social. The verified but unofficial Truth Social @FoxNews account. It is not clear when the account was verified, but it is for now. However, a few days ago, TMTG CEO Devin Nunes posted on @FoxNews’s Truth Social account, apparently welcoming the company to the platform. “Great that there is an RSS feed for @FoxNews now LIVE here on TRUTH!” posted by Nunes, along with a screenshot of the verified @FoxNews account. TMTG CEO Devin Nunes welcomes @FoxNews … RSS FEED? … to TruthSocial Credit: Mashable Screenshot Although this “truth” from Nunes did not necessarily justify any red flags at the time, in light of Fox News now denying its existence on the platform, the wording seems strange. In his post, Nunes specifically says that RSS feed for Fox News is now on Truth Social. The RSS feed is just a summary of the most recent articles on FoxNews.com, which are automatically included in @FoxNews’s Truth Social feed. This is not uncommon for Truth Social. The company has created a number of similar RSS feed accounts. For example, there is an unofficial @NFL account from the National Football League, which simply publishes automated updates to the latest ESPN.com football news. But Truth Social does not hide that these are not official accounts. In fact, these automated informal accounts are labeled “BOT” on the platform. When you click on this BOT tag, a prompt explains to users that these are RSS-backed accounts that have nothing to do with the organization they represent. These BOT accounts are not verified on Truth Social. The @NFL Truth Social account is an example of how RSS-supported feeds are usually viewed on the platform. Investors scored a victory, at least temporarily. The share price rose to listed company shell company, Digital World Acquisition (DWAC), when it appeared that Truth Social had announced that Fox News had joined the platform. TMTG has merged with DWAC to be able to trade on the stock exchange. Mashable contacted Truth Social for comment. We will update this post when we have news.
