The unidentified teenager was taken to hospital with what is believed to be a gunshot wound in the attack – and is in a stable condition. The incident happened just before 10.30pm on Friday in Quinney Crescent in the Moss Side area. Greater Manchester Police believe the girl was not the intended target of the shooting. Officers are with the girl as she continues to recover in hospital and her injuries are not serious. A single shot is believed to have been fired from a passing vehicle into a crowd outside the address where the party was being held. In a statement it said: “Investigations are ongoing to determine the cause of the incident and ultimately those responsible for it. “An extensive cordon is in place as we continue to investigate the scene and we thank the local community for their co-operation while this is happening.” Chief Superintendent Robert Cousin, commander of the Manchester city division, said: “My thoughts are with the victim whose injuries are thankfully not serious and he is able to speak to our officers in hospital, but that does not take away from what could have happened here as such incidents are always reckless, serious and life threatening. “We are doing everything we can to clarify the circumstances of this incident and ensure that whoever is responsible is caught and brought to justice.”
