The New Brunswick RCMP told CTV News on Thursday that they had learned of the girl’s death on Wednesday. Police say the case is closed and will not provide further details about the incident because the investigation is not criminal in nature. The forensic office says it is investigating the girl’s death, but will not comment further on why it is an “active investigation”. Emergency crews responded to a report of an injured child on Woodlawn Road in Dorchester shortly after 2 a.m. Tuesday. The girl was life-threateningly injured in the incident, in which a school bus was involved. The RCMP initially described the incident as a collision, but said on Wednesday that nothing had hit the bus. No other details have been released. The girl was a student at Dorchester Consolidated School. No classes were held in the building on Wednesday, but grief counselors were available throughout the day to assist students and staff.
