The incident happened shortly after 5 pm on Snyder Avenue and S. Opal Street. Police say a 21-year-old was shot several times in the trunk. He was taken to Penn Presbyterian Medical Center, where he later died of his injuries. “Given the ballistic evidence at the scene, it is clear that the shooter or shooters intended to shoot the assailants,” said DF Pace Inspector General of the Philadelphia Police Department. Another 28-year-old man was also shot in the back, according to police. He was taken to Penn Presbyterian Medical Center and recorded in stable condition. “Every case, obviously with a homicide, is a tragedy,” Pace said. “Even in cases where there is a shooting and the person does not die, it is a life-changing event and it is tragic nonetheless.” No arrests have been made so far. This shot is added to the growing list of violent incidents in the city. Earlier Saturday, a man in his 20s died after being shot in the head in Lawncrest. A 17-year-old girl was shot twice in Hunting Park. “This is the biggest violence I have ever seen,” said Nneka Burnett, the bloc leader at Oxford Circle.
