He didn’t receive as much fanfare as the other golfers who jumped ship from the PGA Tour to participate in LIV, but he’s sure to garner more attention going forward after a dominant showing at Bedminster. After entering Sunday outside the top 10, Wolff enjoyed his best round of the day, highlighted by an eagle on the 10th hole. He also recorded five birdies to finish in the top three. He recovered by making four birdies, including one on the 18th hole to move into a tie for second. Mickelson’s round was defined by inconsistency. He also recorded a bogey on the first hole, but seemed to bounce back with birdies on the fourth, eighth and 11th holes. However, he returned to his improbable game with bogeys on the 14th and 17th holes. In three LIV golf events, Mickelson has not finished in the top 30. He is the highest-paid golfer of 2022, but his game has not lived up to his earnings so far. The LIV Golf Invitational Series will return to action on September 2 from The Oaks Course at The International in Boston.
