The RCMP had to use an Air 1 helicopter to monitor a high-speed chase that resulted in a multi-vehicle collision in Surrey on Thursday afternoon. Police initially tried to stop a driver who had invalid license plates just before 4 p.m., according to CTV News Vancouver. The car was located with unbound, uninsured license plates. When the vehicle did not stop, the police had to use a pin belt. This did not stop the driver from continuing at high speeds on the wrong side of the road. The vehicle continued onto 120th Street in Surrey at the time and was spotted by a police helicopter. An unmarked police car fell on the driver, causing it to collide with two other vehicles at 120 and 102. “Fortunately, there were no injuries from anywhere,” Mountis said in a statement. “The suspect, a banned driver, has been taken into custody and an investigation into dangerous driving is ongoing.” – With files from CTV News Vancouver
