Officers were called to Highway 1 near Kensington Avenue in Burnaby around 2:30 a.m. Saturday when one of the victims called 911. Police say two victims were found in a car on the side of the highway. One was already dead when they arrived and a second person, the driver, was suffering from a gunshot wound. Police are trying to determine where the shooting occurred and how far the two victims drove before they pulled over and called for help. A vehicle, believed to be connected to the shooting, was found burning on Eastlawn Drive in Burnaby. The westbound Kensington exit from Highway 1 is expected to be closed for several hours while police gather information. Police are asking anyone with dashcam video who was traveling westbound on Highway 1 in Burnaby between 2 and 3 p.m. to contact the IHIT Information Line at 1-877-551-IHIT (4448) or by email at [email protected] gc.ca.
