Multiple people are dead after a fiery, wrong-way crash in the westbound lanes of I-90 near Hampshire early Sunday, Illinois State Police said. HAMPSHIRE, IL (WLS) — Five children are among seven people killed in a fiery, head-on crash on Interstate 90 near Hampshire early Sunday morning, according to Illinois State Police. A vehicle was driving the wrong way on westbound I-90 near Anthony Rd. when he hit another vehicle head-on around 2:11 a.m., state police said. Both vehicles were fully engulfed in flames. Their identities have not yet been released. One person was airlifted to Loyola University Medical Center with serious injuries, according to Hampshire Fire Protection District Chief Trevor Herrmann. The crash temporarily closed both sides of the interstate in McHenry County overnight.
