“We could be in for years and years of war in Ukraine. But then the world woke up and suddenly realized that Russia and the Ukraine are the biggest grain exporters in the world and something has to be done, so they came to an agreement – and I hope it stands – to export grain through Odessa and across the Bosphorus to the rest of world. This is a good move. “But at the same time placing more and more weapons in Ukraine is not going to bring about a solution.” Mr Zelenksy has made it clear that he will not agree to cede any land to Russia to secure a peace deal. Corbyn said there needed to be “more, much more effort on peace”, adding: “What I find disappointing is that almost none of the world’s leaders use the word peace. They always use the language of more war and more warlike war. “Ukrainians are dying, Ukrainians have gone into exile, thousands and thousands, and Russian soldiers are dying, enlisted young Russian soldiers are dying. This war is destructive to the people of Ukraine, to the people of Russia, and to the safety and security of the entire world. And therefore more, much more effort must be made for peace.”
