So what exactly is Korda missing? “Besides my clothes? Hats off to the sponsor,” he explained. “I’m wearing a Muirfield hat right now. I’ve got some great partners and it’s hard because you’re playing well and you’re obviously in the hunt, but you can’t wear their badge. Plus lots of my hot stuff. my hand warmers. My hands get very cold so I wear gloves all the time. I have lots of heat patches for my lower back and my vitamins, don’t have that either. “On Monday I wore Megan Kang’s pants. Tuesday, I wore my sister’s [Nelly Korda] pants and on Wednesday I wore Alison Lee pants. Today I’m wearing FootJoy pants. “I gave up until Wednesday. If it comes here, great, but if not, it is what it is. At this point I’m playing a golf tournament. FootJoy sent me a bunch of clothes and we tried to figure it out from there.” The highlight of Korda’s round was a 20-foot bogey putt on the 17th. He loves the battle associated with links golf. “It’s really fun but really stressful,” added the 29-year-old. “I definitely wish I didn’t have to put up a score, but it’s fun to be able to hit different shots. I’m aiming as far left or as far right as my actual finish line, which I obviously don’t do on a weekly basis. So there’s a lot of confidence in my golf game.” Subscribe to The Recap, our weekly email of editors’ picks. Japan’s Hinako Shibuno, who won this event in 2019, moved to the top of the leaderboard courtesy of a six-under 65. Scotland’s Louise Duncan, playing in just her second professional event, is just two behind. A year ago, Duncan tied for 10th at the Women’s Open as an amateur. Last week, the 22-year-old missed the cut in her professional debut at the Scottish Open. “I just wanted to go out and enjoy it,” Duncan said. “Don’t take it too seriously. Last week I cooled myself off a bit. It was obvious. My head was down. I just wasn’t in a good mood.”
