Josh Brolin just made comic book fanboys’ minds explode – he says he was ready to play The Dark Knight once and for all … that is, until the director went with Ben Affleck. The veteran actor – who already has two superhero / evil roles under his belt now as Thanos (‘Avengers’) and Cable (“Deadpool 2”) – made the revelation this week on the MTV podcast “Happy Sad Confused “. when asked about the loss of the role of Batman. Brolin confirmed. Yes, Zack Snyder had approached him, in fact, as he was ready for “Batman v Superman” – and it sounds like JB was on board and fully willing to do it. But, as he explains, it was Snyder who decided to go with BA in the end – which is unpleasant (for some fans) because Brolin would be more faithful to the version of Batman depicted in the film …, the older version from “The Dark Knight Returns” (the comic). That’s the weeds, but Snyder somehow combined the stories for his 2016 film – including the one where Batman fights Superman – and decided to use a younger Batsi, as well as leave much of this comic story, including the fact that Superman was a pawn government. You could say that Brolin was excited about the prospect of wearing the cape and hood … and he’s even yelling at George Clooney for his turn in character, no matter how dangerous it was. Less than a week has passed since Discovery closed its $ 43 billion WarnerMedia deal, and new owners are exploring a general review of DC Entertainment https://t.co/aVraEI1vYX – Variety (@Variety) April 15, 2022 @Variety Here’s the good news … Brolin can catch a second bite of the apple here – assuming someone in the recently merged Discovery-Warner is listening. Many changes are on the horizon … including Discovery honchos who reportedly want to review the DCEU. That means revisiting and rejuvenating key characters (like Superman) and maybe down; maybe Batman again. Robert Pattinson seems to be in the driver’s seat right now – but if Discovery wants to make another move on ‘TDR’, Brolin could be their man. Like we said, Brolin has the CV to support him at the Marvel front… so time will tell if DC wants to bring him to the front eventually. FWIW, it looks like a complete game – so why not!
