Kaylea Titford, 16, was found dead at her home in Newtown, Powys, Wales, in October 2020. She was found “pale, cold and could not wake up”. Her mother, Sarah Lloyd-Jones, 39, of Colwyn, Newtown, went to court on Thursday on charges of manslaughter by aggravated negligence and provocation or the authorized death of a child or vulnerable person. Alun Titford, 44,’s father faces the same charges but was admitted to hospital last night and was unable to attend the Mold Crown Court in North Wales. It is alleged that between March 24 and October 11, 2020, they failed to ensure that Kaylea’s nutritional needs were met, leading to morbid obesity. The defendants are also accused of failing to ensure that the 16-year-old exercised enough, was in a healthy condition and had a safe and clean living environment. It is also alleged that Ms Lloyd-Jones and Mr Titford did not ensure that her physical health was maintained and that they did not seek reasonable medical help. Judge Rhys Rowlands filed a new hearing for June 30, with a provisional trial date of January 16.
