While the new trailer doesn’t show off all the changes coming to Udyr, it does offer a pretty impressive first look as well as a fairly comprehensive overview. According to Riot Games, Udyr now has the ability to communicate with “any and all spirits of the Freljord,” the harsh and oppressively cold land Udyr and many champions—like Ashe, Lissandra, and Sejuani—call home. Udyr can also channel the ethereal energy of these spirits and use them in his own “fierce fighting style”.

However, his positions for the Tortoise and the Tiger have seemingly been changed to accommodate two new creatures of the Freljord: the ram and the boar. Most notably, the main names of these stances now all refer to the Freljord gods Anivia, Ornn, the Iron Boar, and Volibear, adding much more continuity to the character. “With the ability to communicate with all the spirits of the Freljord, Udyr channels and transforms their ethereal energy into his own ferocious physical fighting style,” Riot Games wrote in the remaster’s press release. “Through his growing mastery of this impressive and versatile force, Udyr seeks to maintain the balance of the mystical landscape of the Freljord, where conflict and struggle are its soul… and where sacrifices must be made to keep the Irene.” In addition to his new playstyle, the trailer also showed off Udyr’s enhanced new look. Let’s just say that if his ax and glowing eyes don’t scare enemy players, his massive frame should do the trick. As of now, Riot Games has yet to announce when the update will be officially released. However, fans should be able to expect the revamped Udyr to hit the servers sometime in the coming months. GameSpot may receive a commission from retail offers.
