The Nottinghamshire Fire and Rescue Service says 20 tonnes of rubbish is being burned at the Biffa landfill in the Colwick industrial area. The crews were called at about 8.35 a.m. this morning (Friday, April 15). Read more: Fragments of glass and broken windows at the scene of the fire on the campus in Clifton In a tweet, the service said: “08:36 crews from # Stn03LondonRoad, # Stn27Carlton, # Stn26Arnold, # Stn29Highfields, # Stn06Edwinstowe attend Biffa waste in Colwick. 20 tonnes are consumed and used.” The agency said in a statement: “We are currently involved in a waste fire on Private Road, Colwick, where 20 tonnes of waste paper are being burned. Crews from Carlton, London Road, Arnold, Highfields and Edwinstowe, including the Aerial Ladder Platform, are working to put out the fire. “ Residents are urged to avoid the area and keep their doors and windows closed, the fire service said.
