It is estimated that more than 21 million trips will be made from now until Easter Monday. In particular, roads across Lancashire and the Lake District are expected to be busy. Several areas across the area are forecast for severe congestion – including the M6 north. Drivers who want to avoid as much traffic as possible are asked to start before 9 in the morning or to delay their journey until 19:30. M6 road projects and closures that could affect people this coming banking holiday include repairs to the River Dane Bridge. Repairs to the south-facing roadway began in March on junction M61 between junction 3 to where it joins the M60 roadway clockwise at junction 15.
