A Deseronto man was charged with animal cruelty. In July, Lennox and Addington OPP began an investigation with the assistance of Animal Welfare Services and Control after receiving reports of injury to an animal and animal abuse at a residence in Deseronto. The arrest was made on Tuesday. Adam Hayes, 39, of Deseronto is charged with: • Cruelty to animals – unnecessary pain, suffering or injury – two counts • Cause damage or injury to animal or bird – failure to provide suitable/adequate food, water, care, shelter – two counts The defendant was remanded in custody for a bail hearing.
