At approximately 12:20 a.m., Northumbria police received a report of a two-vehicle collision on North Bridge Street with a blue BMW 320 Coupe and a parked car.  A male passenger was taken to hospital after serious injuries were described as life-threatening, while two other passengers in the BMW were slightly injured. 

BMW was traveling from the Tesco department store to the Wearmouth Bridge when, for obvious reasons, it collided with a parked Renault Clio outside the Fona Pizza store. Inspector Matt Sykes of the Northumbria Police Patrol said: “This is clearly a serious incident and we are determined to find out what happened just before the collision.
