The 31-year-old was approached by two unknown men around 12.30 p.m. while crossing Hawkhill Place, in Stevenston.
He was stabbed during the incident and taken to Crosshouse Hospital for treatment. He has since been discharged. He spoke a Scottish accent and wore a black hat, a black shell jacket and blue jeans. No description of second man available. Detectives in Ayrshire are now investigating the attack and are appealing to anyone with any information about the attack to contact them.
