Warwickshire Police said there was a vehicle collision between junction 11 for Banbury and junction 12 for Gadon just before 7 p.m. A 30-year-old man, who was the only passenger in the vehicle, was pronounced dead at the scene. The junctions were closed in both directions for several hours while the emergency services were present. Police are calling for witnesses after the clash. In a statement, the force said: “Warwickshire police are calling for information following a deadly collision on the M40 last night (Saturday, April 16). Shortly after 7pm, a vehicle collided between intersection 11 for Banbury and junction 12 for Gaydon (south). “The only passenger in the vehicle, a man in his 30s, was unfortunately pronounced dead at the scene. His relatives have been informed. “The highway was closed in both directions for several hours, while emergency services were present.
