anchester United are in action against Atletico Madrid this evening as they play their penultimate friendly of the summer in a busy weekend for the club. Erik ten Hag is expected to name a strong starting line-up for a tough encounter with Diego Simeone’s side in Oslo with United’s Premier League season opener at home to Brighton just a week away. New signings Lisandro Martinez and Christian Eriksen have been involved in training and could well break out after being included in the traveling squad for Norway, although it is clearly hard to say how much they will be involved once they have joined. Cristiano Ronaldo did not make the trip, although he took to social media on Friday night to be ready to return for the match against Rayo Vallecano at Old Trafford on Sunday. While all the usual caveats to pre-season games should be applied, United have shown promising signs under new management so far and Atletico, regardless of the fixture’s context, will likely provide a stern test.
