Man Utd fans fire flares as they protest against the Glazers
Manchester United insisted that improving their relationship with the fans is a priority in a statement made public after its poor victory over Norwich City on Saturday afternoon.
Cristiano Ronaldo scored a hat-trick as United overcame the return of the Canaries to win 3-2 and boost their hopes of finishing in the top four of the Premier League. The game was played against the background of a toxic atmosphere as fans protested against the owners of the club, the Glazer family.
Many Red Devils fans are strongly opposed to the Glazers and tensions erupted in the aftermath of last year’s European Super League disaster, when a protest led to the invasion of Old Trafford. The turmoil with the owners has only increased this season as a result of the poor results on the pitch and the drought of the trophies, which extends five years ago.

A new demonstration against the Glazers was scheduled after the 1-0 defeat last weekend by Everton and Mirror Sport understands that the police had to be called to the Carrington base in United on Friday, after angry fans violated the security of the training area. In the run-up to the match against Norwich, more than 2,000 fans gathered and some flares were lit to express their displeasure with the situation in the Old Trafford boardroom.
There was also a hostile mood on the pitch, with Paul Pogba being criticized by the home side’s fans as he was substituted in the middle of the second half, as United had wasted a two-goal lead. There were also voices “you are not able to wear the shirt” addressed to the home team before Ronaldo called the winner with a foul and ensured that he would get the ball of the match. In response to the bitter atmosphere at Old Trafford, United issued a statement reaffirming the fans’ right to protest and their desire to challenge the silverware once again.

“We are working hard to create the conditions for a new success on the pitch, while strengthening our commitment to the fans,” said a spokesman for the club. BBC Sport . “We respect the right of the fans to express their views peacefully and we will continue to listen to them, with the aim of working together to get the club back to where we all want it to be: to fight for trophies.”
While United secured a valuable victory over relegation favorites Norwich, their opponents in the top four lost crucial points. Tottenham lost 1-0 to Brighton at noon on Saturday and Arsenal lost to Southampton by the same score. That leaves the Red Devils three points behind fourth-placed Spurs and ahead of the Gunners in goal difference, although the latter have one game in hand.
