He said he met the first group that looked like they had found something. When he asked about a cell phone, the group began insulting him, removing his snorkel and goggles and throwing them into the water and calling him a “child player,” he said. He told officers he was attacked by them and another group and that he feared for his life and acted in “self-defense.” He told investigators that he then returned to his friends and saw what appeared to be people from the two groups he had a dispute with fighting each other. Witnesses and victims, however, told police that Miu was disturbing a group of people on their tubes and called for help from other people in the river, who stood between the two. A witness told police that Miu’s behavior was “disgusting” and that he “seemed really strange and thoughtful,” the complaint said. He allegedly hit a woman in the first group before a man punched him, causing him to fall into the river. He then allegedly stabbed several people using a folding knife with a 3-inch blade. A video of the incident obtained by police shows Miu running up to a group and grabbing their tubes before being told to “go away,” court documents state. As he walks away, he has a confrontation with a woman as others accuse him of “looking for little girls” and converge on him. He is also seen in the video pulling a knife out of his pocket and exposing the blade before the camera pans out and back, showing Miu falling into the water and being slapped. He then comes out of the water and starts stabbing people. During the interrogation, an officer told Miu that one person died and four were injured. “[Miu] he said, ‘Oh no,’ and asked if the subjects were injured because they were fighting each other, and I said I didn’t know,” the officer wrote in the complaint.[Miu] then he put his head in his hands and said, “My God.” [Miu] he said his whole life was “under the pipes”. [Miu] He said he’s sorry for how this turned out.” Miu is being held in the prison of St. Croix County on $1,000,000 bond. A preliminary hearing is set for August 12.
