The Dallas Mavericks will officially open it after their season without their superstar guard. Coach Jason Kidd confirmed on Saturday morning that Luka Doncic (left calf) will not play in Game 1 against the Utah Jazz at the American Airlines Center. Kid said Doncic is “everyday, so we will go from there.” There are concerns about the availability of the 23-year-old All-Star for Game 2 on Monday. Doncic was initially referred to as “doubtful” for Saturday’s game, which meant he probably would not play. However, the rating did not rule out the Mavericks activating it. The Mavericks remained optimistic about Doncic’s progress this week, but the injury experts who spoke to them The Dallas Morning News On Monday, he said, small, Grade 1 calves take about seven to 10 days to heal, while more important Grade 2 strains take weeks. The team has not revealed the severity of Doncic’s injury from the MRI scan he did on Monday. While Doncic attended film sessions and was present for treatment and exercise, he did not practice in any of the Mavericks’ three full sessions this week. At the end of training on Tuesday and Wednesday, he rode a stationary exercise bike while his teammates completed shooting exercises and on Thursday worked on a treadmill shortly before reporters were allowed to enter the facility.
